FORD OAKVILLE ASSEMBLY COMPLEX NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 500 NEW JOBS

The Oakville Assembly Complex will be hiring for approximately 500 positions due to high demand for the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers, and the upcoming launch of the Ford Flex crossover.
Crossover vehicles represent the fastest-growing segment in the North American auto industry.
In Canada, the crossover segment grew 89 per cent in 2007 and Ford of Canada sold more crossovers than any other manufacturer.
United States sales of crossovers grew 17 per cent last year and the Ford Edge was the best-selling mid-size crossover.
OAKVILLE, Ontario, April 22, 2008 – Due to strong sales in the competitive crossover vehicle market, the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited is now accepting applications in an effort to fill 500 new jobs at the Oakville Assembly Complex.

The Oakville facility builds the hot-selling Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers, and this summer, it will add production of the Ford Flex, an all-new, full-size crossover.

“The quality of the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX is among the best in the business – just last year Strategic Vision’s 2007 Total Value Index named the Ford Edge as a segment winner and the Lincoln MKX a leader,” said Ken Minielly, plant manager at the Oakville Assembly Complex. “At Ford, we’ve raised the bar on our quality standards, and we’ll be producing the all-new Ford Flex with that same commitment to excellence.”
