POSITION TITLE: Program Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
DETAILS: Full-time, $32,000 – $35,000/year plus benefits (depending on experience and qualifications)

For Youth Initiative (FYI) is a by-youth-for-youth, charitable organization that works primarily in the former City of York and parts of Etobicoke. FYI has five main programming streams: life skills, recreation, community development, cultural production, and female-specific programming. Overall, FYI aims to encourage civic engagement and increase access to educational, recreational, economical and cultural opportunities for youth. FYI is a United Way Member agency.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of programs at FYI. This includes the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, as well as the planning and monitoring of program budgets. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring that supervision, support and training are provided to all program staff. The Program Director will take a lead in outreaching to the community, and will actively participate in organizational development, planning and evaluation.

1. Oversee the day-to-day functions of the organization, including supervision of staff working out of three locations and numerous programming satellites.
2. Scheduling and monitoring staff schedules, as well as office management and coordination.
3. Ensure the evaluation of programs, collection of statistical data, and writing of program reports in coordination with the Director of Organizational Development.
4. Produce monthly program reports to the Executive Director and quarterly reports to the Board of Directors.
5. Sign off on staff hours and submit payroll information on a bi-monthly basis.
6. Other administrative functions as needed.

7. Management of all project budgets and program expenses in coordination with the Director of Organizational Development.
8. Reconciliation of all program spending.

Programming/Community Development:
9. Oversee the development of appropriate programs and services with youth (including outreach and resource plans) in accordance with FYI’s strategic plan, vision and mandate.
10. Oversee the management and coordination of all program staff and student placements.
11. Identify necessary and appropriate staff trainings/support along with the Director of Community Engagement and Executive Director.
12. Ensuring FYI’s Resource Centre guidelines are followed by all staff and participants.
13. Ensuring FYI’s Resource Centre and programs are well maintained and resourced.
14. Work with community youth and staff, and analyze social trends to identify program and service needs in coordination with the Director of Organizational Development.
15. Ensure the creation and development of program calendars, flyers, display boards and all other promotional materials.
16. Maintain existing, and negotiate new organizational partnerships, with stakeholders and community members alongside the Director of Organizational Development.
17. Facilitate and/or participate in community responses to current youth issues.
18. Network with other service providers, funders, elected representatives, local businesses, and community members to promote awareness of youth issues in the community.
19. Oversee the planning & coordination of annual special events (i.e.-Slam Jam Community Festival).

We are seeking a dynamic, committed and organized person who has:
* An in-depth understanding of the issues facing ethno-cultural youth and demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities and youth.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, administrative and time management skills.
* Experience coordinating and organizing numerous programmes, projects and initiatives.
* Demonstrated experience/ability to conduct effective outreach and liaise with community stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate, monitor and deliver statistics and reports.
* Ability to apply creative and critical thinking to seek effective solutions to problems and barriers.
* Experience and comfort working in a team or independently as required.
* Demonstrated experience supervising front-line workers, student placements and volunteers.
* The ability to be flexible and to work within structures as required.
* Ability to manage and monitor program budgets.
* Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
* Ability to adhere to and enforce the guideline, policies and values of the organization.
* Post-secondary education in a related field.
* Knowledge and experience working within an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework.
* Ability to diffuse conflict and manage stress.
* An understanding of and commitment to anti-oppression and social justice issues.
* Ability to speak a second language relevant to the community is an asset.
* A car is an asset.
