COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Start Rate: $31.66 – $40.08 per hour
Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario, has a vision to bring about an integrated, customer-focused transportation system that enhances prosperity, sustainability and quality of life for the GTHA region.  As a Communications Coordinator, you will be part of a talented, creative, and energized team responsible for developing and coordinating effective communications initiatives for Metrolinx projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
– Developing and executing integrated communications strategies that enhance Metrolinx’s corporate objectives 
and image, and enhance relations with stakeholders, such as customers, media, government ministries, and 
our Board of Directors.
– Developing, writing, and producing print and on-line material, such as internal and external newsletters, 
bulletins, backgrounders, media releases and advisories, publications, and website content.
– Developing, coordinating and executing internal and external special events that enhance community, staff, and 
media relations.
– Ensuring external and internal awareness of the corporation and its services.
– Providing communications support and expertise to all levels of staff, including the Ministry of Transportation, 
senior management and the Board of Directors.
Location: 20 Bay Street, Toronto
Qualifications: Excellent knowledge of corporate communications principles and practices normally attained through completion of a four-year post-secondary program in communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  A minimum of three (3) years’ experience, including knowledge of, or demonstrated skills in:
– Creative writing and editing for corporate communications
– Coordinating and implementing a wide variety of special events
– Producing publications and other print and on-line material from concept to completion
– Communication tools, including desktop publishing, word-processing and web-authoring applications.
– Interpersonal, written, and oral communications, including the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, the public, and other stakeholders
– Organizational, research, planning and project management skills.
– The principles of media relations, marketing, and public relations
