MACBETH REFLECTED

24 Nov

Nationally acclaimed Theatre Jones Roy announces new work to premiere in Toronto this winter MACBETH REFLECTED

A stunning re-envisioning of Shakespeare’s macabre masterpiece Following a national tour of their two-time Dora Award winning hit Pyaasa and the critically acclaimed Letters to my Grandma, Theatre Jones Roy is back in Toronto this winter with the world premiere of their newest work Macbeth Reflected. The Shakespearean adaptation was created by director Thomas Morgan Jones and features John Ng and Mary Ashton. Macbeth Reflected opens January 19th, 2009 at the Lower Ossington Theatre. “This have I thought good to deliver thee, my dearest partner of greatness…what greatness is promised thee.” In Macbeth Reflected, we find the perfect meeting of Lust in the personal and in the political, revealing the insidious nature of the Macbeths’ all-consuming greed for power, which festers and breeds in private. As their lust destroys the Macbeths’ minds and marriage, Scotland crumbles around them. Using Shakespeare’s iconic Macbeth, Jones’ adaption takes the focus off the grand action of the public story, and concentrates solely on Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Macbeth Reflected features Lighting Design by David DeGrow, Sound Design by Thomas Ryder Payne and Set and Costume Design by Kelly Wolf.
